Buenos Aires, March 3 (NA) — The 30 representatives of the clubs in the Professional League will meet this afternoon to decide whether or not to lift the strike scheduled for matchday 9 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, this decision was made at the initiative of President Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia because the Justice system has summoned the authorities of the AFA, including Tapia and Toviggino, to give testimony in a case for alleged financial irregularities. From the Argentine football's governing body, they emphasized that there is no enforceable debt and that the payments in question were made voluntarily before their respective due dates. Additionally, they clarified that this argument has already been presented to the Justice system and is currently awaiting a decision from the Appeals Court. They also accused ARCA of attempting to transform non-due obligations into the basis for a supposed tax crime.
